received a grant of $15,000 to help finance its . The Initiative is a partnership between Mounds Park Academy and the Saint Paul Public Schools to help address the achievement gap and graduation rates between students of color and white students in the public schools.
The program includes a summer school and school-year component, both of which are tuition-free. High school and college students are recruited to teach the summer school program as a way to attract students of color to the teaching profession.
This grant will assist public school students make tangible academic progress by increasing the number of advance placement and International Baccalaureate courses they take, while encouraging them to prepare for college.
